“What we’re witnessing is no longer democracy.”
During a jaw-dropping speech at the Connecticut Forum on June 17, former President Barack Obama shocked the audience with a dire warning:
America is dangerously close to slipping into autocracy!
Speaking to thousands, Obama didn’t hold back. He directly called out Donald Trump, accusing the current administration of normalizing anti-democratic behavior, especially in its harsh response to anti-ICE protests.
“There’s a weak commitment to the foundations of liberal democracy… checks and balances are fading… and the rule of law is under threat,” Obama declared.
Even more chilling, he compared the current state of the U.S. to Hungary under authoritarian leader Viktor Orbán, where power is concentrated in one man and citizens have little or no say in governance.
But the moment that froze the entire room?
“We are dangerously close to a system where no one can check the leader anymore.”
With the “NO KINGS” protest movement spreading across the country, Obama’s speech felt like pouring fuel on a national fire.
He urged young people to refuse to tolerate injustice, stating:
“Change is addition, not division.”
However, the internet wasn’t fully convinced.

Obama’s administration deported more immigrants per year than Trump’s.
